Roberto Schaefer has been a Director of Photography on feature films since 1984 and is responsible for the beautiful cinematography throughout the New Orleans area. He just completed filming the comedy Stranger Than Fiction, starring Will Ferrell, Dustin Hoffman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Emma Thompson, and Queen Latifah. Roberto also filmed Stay, starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts, now playing in theaters. Roberto past credits as Director of Photography include Marc Forster's Finding Neverland, starring Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, Julie Christie and Dustin Hoffman. In 2001, Roberto filmed the award winning Monster's Ball, starring Billy Bob Thornton and Halle Berry, winning the Best Actress Oscar for Halle Berry. The film was nominated for Best Screenplay and additionally for the American Film Institute's Movie of the Year. In 2000, Roberto filmed Christopher Guest's Best in Show, which won the American Film Institute 10 Best of 2000 films award. Also in 2000, he filmed Marc Forster's Everything Put Together, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. In addition, Roberto filmed Christopher Guest's Waiting For Guffman (1996) which was nominated for Best Feature at the Independent Spirit Awards. In 1996, he filmed Just Your Luck, and Loungers in 1995 that won the Audience Award at the Slamdance International Film Festival. In 1986, Roberto filmed his first feature, Fine Della Notte (End of the Night) in Northern Italy for Italian director, Davide Ferrario. In 1991, Roberto shot his second feature, the B&W 35 mm feature Mosche In Testa (Flies in the Head) before moving from Rome to Los Angeles, California.
